The Nephilim/AOD

A main part of the TR: AOD plot is the Nephilim race.

I hope I can explain this the best I can, feel free to correct me (via comments) :)

What is the Nephilim?

The Nephilim were an antediluvian race (pre-flood) race which are referred to in the Bible as giants. They were reportedly the children born from the "daughters of men'', and the "Sons of God''. It is most important to note that they are mentioned almost simultaneous to God's statement that He would destroy the earth by flood, and it seems from this association that their affect upon mankind was one of the primary justifications that brought the destruction.

Genesis 6:1-7
1 When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal ; his days will be a hundred and twenty years." 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. 5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. 6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. 7 So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them."

How is it related?
Based on the AOD plot (or what I know of it), Lara goes in search of the Obscura paintings after she was framed for the murder of her former mentor & friend, Werner Von Croy. She is on the run from authorities & a secret organization called the Cabal, led by Eckhardt. These paintings provide the map to the location of the Periapt Shards, the only weapon(s) that can destroy Eckhardt.

Lara unveils the Cabal's plan to revive the ancient Nephilim race in their greed for glory & immortality. Her journey takes her to Paris, Prague, Turkey & Germany; together with Kurtis Trent, Lara must stop the Cabal's grotesque quest &put the Nephilim race to sleep.

Why is it interesting?
IMO the plot studies a really ancient part of Biblical history; there were rumoured discoveries of Nephilim skeletons (see here), plus a possible connection that Atlanteans & Nephilim are actually the same super-race, just described by different people/perspectives.

So...?
The validity of the existence of the Nephilim is still not certain but it's one heck of a story.

Hehe! I found you at tombraiderforums, and was pleasantly surprised to find such a big TR fan so close to home! :D

It's a shame you haven't been able to play Underworld, it's a really great game, despite what complainers on the forum might make you believe. (They'll pick at absolutely everything to criticise!)
There are major flaws to do with bugs, but the gameplay itself is lots of fun, and is infinitely better than Legend.

Storywise? Well, nothing beats AOD. :D

And I agree, KURTIS TRENT is so hott.
