CNY 2013

The year of the Water Snake is here!

I don't feel as celebratory as I did years ago; maybe work has taken its toll on me! However I got a few necessities down:

1) CNY elementals
CNY would not be complete without mandarin oranges, nga ku, peanuts, shandy, beer and wine. Of course Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle is a MUST-WATCH for CNY! Ang pow is always appreciated! Also you can never go wrong with red outfits! :D

2) Family and friends
Me & the family had our reunion dinner at Chilli's Bangsar Shopping Center. We're not a conventional family aka require yee sang and Chinese cuisine for CNY Eve (ridiculously expensive IMO). We value the time we share together more than tradition, I suppose. So after an extremely filling dinner at Chilli's, we headed to Dancing Fish for some dessert: caramelized banana, cendol and mango lolo. Manja's recommendation gets a thumbs up from me!

On the 1st day, we visited relatives in Shah Alam; 5 babies are a handful! Granted, one was only 5 months old and smells incredible the way babies do...but aside from one particularly plucky and borderline violent nephew, it was a great way to bond with the kids from the next generation.

Later in the evening I took my mom to Thai Odyssey @ Bangsar Village II. We've tried the service at Thai Odyssey @ Telawi on separate occasions (FYI min 2 senior citizens can get 30% discount for Thai body massage from 10am-1pm weekdays), and BV II's outlet is the best! The masseuses were quick to respond to areas requiring extra attention and we came home feeling refreshed and ready for a good night's sleep!

I went on a random house-hopping with high school friends; it's good to catch up with old friends and reminisce about the old days plus chat about what's new in each others' lives.

I suppose apart from the above two items, CNY is really a good break from hectic work schedule and a good excuse to indulge in family and friends and other yummy sinful stuff! Happy Chinese New Year to everyone out there and have a safe holiday! :)
